Ten Terrific Twitter Things
Twitter is one of the fastest-growing social spaces on the net, and it’s popularity has spawned a number of great websites and applications that allow you to extend the Twitter ‘experience’. I have compiled a list of some of the most useful Twitter things that I use, and so, without further ado, I would like to present: Ten Terrific Twitter Things.
Teen sues mother over Facebook account hacking
Sixteen year-old Lane New is suing his mother, Denise New, over claims she hacked his Facebook account, changed his password and posted slanderous remarks about her son.
Denise claims that her son had forgotten to log of the popular social networking site Facebook after using her computer. She was going to log out of the site, but after reading that her son had driven at 95mph, she instead changed her son’s password and started posting derogatory status updates about her son.
Lane filed a harassment complaint in the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office on March 26. A statement has been issued saying the woman’s alleged statements about her son justified the harassment charge, however Prosecutor Todd Turner has declined to comment further.
Denise still claims, however, that she is in the right, and has done nothing wrong. She says that “You’re within your legal rights to monitor your child and to have a conversation with your child on Facebook whether it’s his account, or your account or whoever’s account”.
She will face a hearing at the Clark County Courthouse on May 12.
Lane filed harassment charges on March 26; Denise faces a hearing at the Clark County Courthouse on May 12.
Conroy and you on Radio National
The latest installment of the ABC Radio National program ‘Australia Talks’ had a discussion with Minister Stephen Conroy (Minster for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy) and Colin Jacobs (Vice-President, Electronic Frontiers Australia), as well as accepting calls and questions from average Australians. Listen to the recording at the ABC’s website.
How Google Works
The following article was written ages ago… it may not be accurate today. But read it anyway, I put a heap of work into it back in the day.
Google is a search engine; everyone knows that – but how does it actually work. In this article, we will delve into Google’s behind the scenes, from how they crawl the web, to how results are shown to you.

Clean feed going ahead?
Two days ago, Stephen Conroy re-affirmed his support in implementing a mandatory internet filter in Australia. The filter, which aims to filter out all websites and content that has been ‘refused classification’ and that is “harmful and inappropriate” for children, has been shown in tests to slow our already sub-par internet speeds by up to 80%. Despite the failed tests and opposition from the public, Conroy seems unfazed in his attempt to build a china-esque firewall.

UntitledTech: New Server
We moved! Those of you that are reading this, probably didn’t even notice, we mirrored the site and transferred the domain yesterday. This is a good thing because it lets us send out email updates, something we couldn’t do before. Also, we updated wordpress, and changed the login page, so the whole site is looking a lot prettier. But it isn’t just us. The whole Mulligan Media family has moved, and we are the first site back up (not even the mail server is working at the time of posting), you can check the progress at http://mulliganmedia.net (those ISPs who cache browsing may show the old site). And then at http://updateserver.mulliganmedia.net
