Apple’s Slate has finally come out in the form of the iPad. It really looks like a bit of a disappointment at first glance, as it looks like a scaled-up iPhone, and at second and third glance, it turns out that that is all it is. It’s a big iPhone. It’s got the GPS, the compass, the Wi-Fi, the iPod, the Safari and even the OS of the iPhone. It’s an iPhone with a 9.7 inch display. It does look cool though…

The popular Amazon Kindle has been unavailable outside the US since it’s launch, however Amazon announced recently that they have plans to bring the popular ebook reader to Australia by October 19. Amazon will start shipping the international version for a price of $239USD with most of the Kindle range available at launch. Amazon has failed to mention if the no-pc download service avaliable in the US will carry over here, although we hope so, especially with Telstra’s 3G coverage.

It’s nice to have a PCB for your project, but what happens when you run out of room? Double sided PCBs, of course! And, as Instructables member tinygeek points out… it’s easier than you think!

Sometimes, there’s never enough room on your screen. I mean, how can there be? If I’m running a full screen web browser, there isn’t enough space to show system stats or email notifications. Well, that’s where Intel proves me wrong. Intel’s latest prototype is a laptop with four screens. The device, recently revealed at IDF, has 3 OLED touchscreens above the keyboard, allowing widgets and other stuff to be placed in view and interacted with. Plus, you can flick them up onto the main screen for a better look (video after the break). Unfortunately, we’re not likely to see it for a while yet, Intel says they’ve got a lot of refining to do. But I can’t wait!

For a long time, the second generation iPod nano has been un-hackable… but finally, the guys over at iPod Nano Linux have done it! The iPod nano 2G can run the cLinux kernal. You can download the iLoader now… be warned though, this hack will erase the original apple firmware, and definitely void your warranty. This is done at your own risk, so if something goes wrong, don’t blame us

This new tablet pc from Motion is one of the coolest pieces of tech yet. Boasting a 64GB SSD, Intel Core 2 Duo, GPS, Biometric Sensor, Webcam, Card reader, Bluetooth, WiFi, and it’s rugged too.

This thing is cool, and not only all that, the LCD is visible in daylight as well. Forget the Netbook, I want one of these.
